title in England[13]

On September 8, 2022, 30 minutes after the news of Queen Elizabeth II 's death was announced, the royal title was proclaimed Charles III. During his time as crown prince, it was a long-standing topic of discussion among royals about whether he would choose Charles as his royal title in the future. Most European monarchs generally use their own names as their royal titles, but in British history , Charles I was not a king with a very good reputation because he was executed due to discord with Parliament and the Puritan Revolution . The variable was that due to the scandal with his mistresses and the fact that he was the son of Charles I, he was misunderstood by the public and unclear rumors were created, so his evaluation was not very favorable. Since the Jacobites had referred to James II's grandson, Charles Edward, as Charles III, there was also a prediction that they would not choose Charles as the title of king to avoid this controversy.[14]

However, despite these predictions, as the public has been calling him 'Prince Charles' for over 70 years, there were many speculations that he would just go by the name Charles III, as can be seen from the fact that most of the creative works assuming his accession to the throne when Charles was still crown prince called him Charles III. In the end, as predicted, Charles III was chosen as the royal title.

3.1. Commonwealth Republic Movement

File:details ico...   of the republican movement in the Commonwealthmore detailsmonarchy republicanism documentcastPlease note.
Before Charles III succeeded to the throne, many questions were raised about his suitability as the Monarch of Commonwealth Realms and Head of the Commonwealth , separate from the British throne, due to the controversy caused by Princess Diana . The Diana scandal and Charles' subsequent actions not only affected the UK, but also caused a huge backlash in Australia , New Zealand , and Canada .[15] Public opinion arose to abolish the monarchy not only in Britain but also in these countries. In particular, in Australia , a constitutional crisis in which Prime Minister Gough Whitlam was dismissed by the Governor-General sparked a transition to a republican system, and the Princess Diana scandal added fuel to the fire. Because of this, even today, there is low preference for the monarchy in Australia, especially among middle-aged people.

First of all, among the countries of the Commonwealth Kingdom, countries belonging to the Caribbean community are the most common in public. In 2021, Barbados has already changed its nationality to the Republic after the legislative procedure (the referendum has not been done). In addition, Australia is mostly friendly in the transition of republican festivals, but Australia has clearly formed a public opinion public opinion, and in 1999, the support of the Republican government was constantly ahead of the polls, and threw a referendum card and reversed it.[16] It is likely to show a slower behavior than the Caribbean countries. First of all, during the current term, which was scheduled for 2025, he would not try to change the country, Australian Prime Minister Anthony said.
Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Canada and Republic sentiment have recently been sharply in step with Britain.[22] It is not low that Australia and New Zealand , which have different backgrounds and perceptions from Australia, will go against each other.

In the opinion, New Zealand people show high preference for monarchy, but in contrast, Australians have a higher support for republican festivals than monarchy. However, in the Australian poll immediately after the death of Elizabeth II, it was surveyed as a monarchy 6: Republican support 4. # Republican Prime Minister, Prime Minister, has already appointed a minister to promote the Constitutional Amendment. If you win the 2025 general election, it is estimated that it will accelerate the change of national change from then on.

In Canada, polls from the 2010s since the polls of the Republic of Korea, but the republic's claims to be in the same level, but the enthusiasm for the republic's conversion claims is significantly lower. The proportion of the indifference layer is also high. Prime Minister Jutang Trudeau is close to the royalist and said he will not discuss the Republic of Republic during his term. In addition, in Canada, the conditions required for the constitutional amendment are quite difficult, because the constitutional amendment must be passed through a referendum in all states. If you vote against the amendment of the Constitution in just one place, it is impossible to abolish the monarchy.

Antigua and Barbuda , in the Caribbean Community region where the mood for transition to a republic is strongest, was the first to announce that it would hold a referendum on transition to a republic within three years. However, under the constitution of this country, in order to change the national structure through a referendum, a simple majority of voters is not required.23\displaystyle \frac{2}{3}in favor ofBecause of this need, the reality does not seem to be very high. First, Prime Minister Gaston Brown of Antigua and Barbuda officially signed a document recognizing Charles III as the next king on September 11. #

Charles III is likely to disagree directly with the transition of the Republic of Republicans of other Commonwealth Kingdoms. A friend of Charles III said, "Charles III knows that it is a bit ridiculous to have a person on the other side of the earth as a state enemy, so even if the republic of republicans in some Commonwealth countries will be visible, he will not raise the opposite voice and jump into controversy." In his speech before he became king, he said, "The political system is not important, whether it is the kingdom or the Republic. The value we are currently sharing is important." Therefore, it can be different from the former Elizabeth II, who was active in maintaining the Commonwealth Kingdom .

As of September 2023, even in the two countries designated as 'countries where the Constitution of the Republic and referendum are certain to be revised in the near future', it seems difficult to transition to a national structure in the near future. In Jamaica, in a September 2023 opinion poll, support for a transition to a republican government plummeted by 11% to 45% , and in Antigua and Barbuda, the ruling party barely won the general election in January , turning a passive attitude toward a transition to a republican government. In New Zealand , the trend of maintaining the monarchy continues, and in Australia , the 'Voice' referendum, which was evaluated as a preliminary preparation for conversion to a republic, was rejected, and the momentum for conversion to a republic has been lost. The Labor Party also announced that it will not pursue a conversion to a republic for the time being even if the Labor Party wins the 2025 general election.

In October 2024, after his visit to Australia, favorability toward Charles III and the monarchy further increased, with public opinion in favor of converting to a republic dropping to 41%. At the time of the 1999 referendum, the approval rating was lower than the 45% public opinion in favor of converting to a republican system.[23] 45% agreed that the monarchy should be maintained even after the death of Charles III. #

  • In the board game Cyberpunk 2020 , it is mentioned in the background setting that he was assassinated by an anti-monarchy coup force along with his younger brother Prince Andrew while he was reigning as king .
  • In Season 3 of the drama The Crown , a young Charles III appears. As his unhappy childhood and turbulent relationship with his parents are described, he receives sympathy and pity. From season 1 to season 3, he shows sympathy for the situation of his great-grandfather, Edward VIII, due to his dark childhood and problems with women , and is saddened by the reality of being forced to break up with Camilla, whom he loved.[36] However, as the Princess Diana storyline began in earnest in Season 4, he transformed into a villain. To be precise, following the advice written in a letter written by her great-grandfather, Count Louis Mountbatten, who was the only member of the royal family who cared for her, just before his death in an IRA terrorist attack, a woman with a clean and chaste past was searched for as the crown princess, and Diana was chosen. Afterwards, he uses Diana as a puppet, commits an affair with Camilla, and even appears jealous when Diana becomes more popular than him.[37] He was portrayed by British actor Josh O'Connor .
In season 5, he appears as an adult and is played by Dominic West . His discord with Diana still persists, showing him taking steps toward separation and divorce, while at the same time showing a negative side of him still committing an affair with Camilla. However, in contrast, it shows a more three-dimensional image of pursuing changes in the royal family, reflecting the public opinion and the atmosphere of the time that were displeased with the old queen. For example, because of the public opinion that a young new king suitable for a new era (the 90s after the end of the Cold War) should ascend to the throne until Diana's revelations, Prime Minister John Major secretly expressed his desire to be abdicated by the Queen . Through this, he emphasized that the British royal family should become a more public-friendly and modern system, but at the same time, he still treated Diana coldly and continued a secret affair with Camilla, which eventually led to their divorce after their affair was exposed.
In Season 6 Part 1, which finally deals with Diana's death, ironically, despite the fact that their relationship was so bad throughout their marriage, along with their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, they mourn Diana's death more than any other member of the British royal family. It looks like From the time she heard of Diana's death, she was sobbing and unable to hide her sadness. She flew to Paris, France, where she had been in an accident, to check on Diana's body. In principle, she had already divorced and was no longer a member of the royal family, so she returned the body to the existing custom. They broke the rules and had the coffin covered with a flag with the royal emblem engraved on it and transported from the Paris hospital to London. At this time, on the plane returning to England, he sees a vision of Diana and expresses his regret and guilt toward her.
  • In 2017, the BBC aired a drama called King Charles III . It tells a fictional story that takes place after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, dies from old age and Prince Charles ascends to the throne. Interestingly, there is a scene in the play where, when the British Parliament is trying to introduce and pass a bill to restrict freedom of the press due to security issues, Charles appears in parliament wearing a naval uniform and declares the dissolution of Parliament .[38]
In other words, it depicts a situation where representatives elected by the general public try to restrict the people's freedom, and a hereditary monarch steps in to stop them.[39] Moreover, it is the exact opposite of the situation in which Charles I of the same name dissolved Parliament after passing the Petition of Rights . Whether the intention is good or bad, if the king does something like this, the British constitutional monarchy, which has been maintained through political non-intervention, will be shaken, so Charles III in the work forced the dissolution by risking the throne on a small scale and the royal family on a large scale. After this scene, protests against Charles are shown taking place across England, including London . In the end, Charles abdicates to William, half voluntarily and half by will, and steps down from the throne.
Real-life figures from the British royal family, including Charles III, also appear in key roles. In the play, William, who became crown prince, is depicted as trying to mediate between the parliament and the father king immediately after the father king's declaration of dissolution of parliament. The younger brother, Harry, is set to date a black woman from the common people, a republican. A year later, he married Meghan Markle, who is of mixed race, so he was halfway there. As a side note, there is also a scene in the play where the ghost of the deceased Diana talks to Charles, but this is not an insult to the deceased, but reflects the characteristics of Shakespeare 's play.
  • It appeared as a photo in the sitcom Mr. Bean . Mr. Bean went to a barbershop and ruined the hair of three customers while the barber was away. When the customers came to complain, he covered his face with a picture of Charles III and escaped. #
  • In the drama For All Mankind, he marries Camilla in 1983, preventing conflict in the British royal family.
  • In the movie Spenser , actor Jack Farthing played Charles III.
  • In the animation Plush , he appears only briefly in flashbacks and references to the past, and appears as the source of all evil that caused the main villain of this work, Todd, to become black. Since he was still a crown prince at the time the work was published, he is referred to as Prince Charles.

10. digression

  • In 1980, he published a children's book titled 'The Old Man of Lochnagar'. It is said to have been published based on stories told by younger brothers Prince Andrew, Duke of York , and Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, when they were children. In addition, he has written books about nature and the environment, which are his usual interests.
  • In 1985, he attended an event hosted by the Prince Foundation and performed break dancing . #
  • In 1994, he was assassinated in Australia by David Kang, a Korean undergraduate student at Macquarie University . However, the attempted assassin used blank bullets or signal flares. This Korean student was immediately arrested on the spot, and soon went to trial, but due to the fact that he did not use a lethal weapon, his remorse, and his mental history, his sentence was reduced and he was sentenced to only perform 500 hours of community service. In 2005, it was reported that he was working as a lawyer in Sydney. #
  • In 2005, he caused controversy by shaking hands with Zimbabwean dictator Robert Mugabe at the funeral of Pope John Paul II . As the controversy continued, Clarence House issued a statement saying, "Shaking Mugabe's hand was unavoidable, but the current Zimbabwean regime is abhorrent."
  • On May 11, 2012, he appeared on BBC News' weather forecast. #
  • He is a non-smoker. When he was 11, he tried smoking two cigarettes out of curiosity behind the chicken coop, but it was so strong that he coughed a lot and never touched a cigarette after that.
  • I like plants. He has won a prize by designing and making the garden. Then, in an interview in 1986, I said, "I have a conversation with the plants I meet."[40] Nevertheless, in 2016, he was active, including becoming a new supporter of the Royal Botanical Garden .
  • He still drives the Aston Martin DB6 convertible model he received as a 21st birthday gift from Queen Elizabeth II . The vehicle was modified in 2008 to run on bioethanol fuel, and it uses whey from British white wine and cheese-making processes. That's why they say the car smells delicious every time you drive. # They announced that they plan to convert their ceremonial vehicle, the Bentley State Limousine , to biofuel in 2024 , and to replace it with electric vehicles in the future.
  • There was a rule not to eat lunch unless it was unavoidable due to official schedules. However, after being diagnosed with cancer in 2024, he began eating half an avocado at lunchtime to maintain his stamina. I have always maintained simple eating habits, and at breakfast time I mainly enjoy a light diet consisting of fruit , eggs , or muesli . I don't eat meat or fish twice a week , and I only eat organic food on one of those days. #
  • Participated in the urban design of Poundbury, located in Dorset . This is because Poundbury at the time belonged to the Duchy of Cornwall, where Charles was reigning as duke. The city was designed to be a pedestrian-oriented city, reflecting Charles III's usual philosophy by reducing unnecessary traffic routes and eliminating vehicle signs and traffic lights to make vehicle traffic inconvenient. It introduced the concept of a car-free city, which is being attempted in earnest in the 21st century . Even streetlights, crosswalks, and signs were installed to a minimum, and the exteriors of all buildings were matched to similar colors. Instead, we created a nature-friendly urban environment by installing birdhouses for birds and holes for wild animals to move into each building, and introducing biofuel. In addition, much cheaper housing was created and supplied for the common people. While some say it was ahead of its time with its environmentally friendly concept of urban design, there is also considerable criticism that people think urban development is a royal doll game. In fact, residents here must follow strict rules when maintaining, repairing, and managing buildings. #

  • Like Queen Elizabeth II, who loved the Welsh Corgi, she loves the Jack Russell Terrier . I am raising two females named Bluebell and Beth, whom I adopted in 2017, and both of them were abandoned dogs. In particular, it is said that Bluebell was found dying in the forest due to a skin disease, but recovered dramatically after being rescued. This is the first time in history that an abandoned dog has become a royal pet. However, Beth died in November 2024. Before Bluebell and Beth, I had a Jack Russell named Pooh, and while I was walking him on a leash near Balmoral Castle in Scotland, he spotted something in the woods and ran away, disappearing. At this time, he posted an advertisement in the newspaper looking for a dog, which became a hot topic, but he was unable to find one.
  • He wrote the preface to the 400th anniversary edition of the King James Bible published by the British Overseas Bible Society .
  • British royals have a custom of code-naming their funerals with the name of a bridge depending on their title, and the current code name for Charles III's funeral is Operation London Bridge , which is the king's code name. #
  • It has a lot in common with Edward VII . Both of their parents are of mixed German ancestry, and their father is from a foreign royal family known for being handsome. In addition, because his mother reigned as the King of England for a very long time, he reigned as the Prince of Wales for a long time and ascended to the throne at an old age. During his time as crown prince, he saw his grandchildren and got married through the arrangement of his family, but his married life was not smooth and his mistress What Alice Keppel and Camilla Parker Bowles have in common is that they virtually replaced the wife's role.
  • Among the soccer teams in England, I support Burnley FC . He explained that this was because his charities were carrying out local regeneration and youth support activities in the Burnley area.[45]

[1] There is no stipulation that the head of the Commonwealth is a hereditary position, but as agreed at the 2018 Commonwealth Summit (CHOGM) , the position of head of the Commonwealth was inherited upon the death of Queen Elizabeth II . His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, also automatically inherited the title upon the death of George VI and held it until her death.[2] The King of England identifies as an Anglican in England and as a Presbyterian in Scotland, and since the era of Queen Victoria , the tradition of worshiping at Crady Kirk began when the royal family resided at Balmoral Castle . #[3] This is the coat of arms used by the King of England, and is a continuation of Elizabeth II's coat of arms, except that the St. Edward's Crown was replaced with the Tudor Crown. Following tradition , Scotland uses a coat of arms with a different design than the one above. Also, the sentences used in the Commonwealth differ from country to country. The different emblems of the Commonwealth are the coat of arms of Charles III, so you can refer to them.[4] Charles III was chosen by Charles III from the ten design proposals presented by the royal sentence of Arms, which manages royal sentences and genealogy. Elizabeth II first introduced a monogram with a castle Edward crown without overlapping letters , but Charles III's monogram returned to a classic design with a tuer crown on a complex alphabet layout with a tradition of George VI . This monogram is engraved on public buildings in the UK, national documents, uniforms, military uniforms, mailboxes, and passports.[5] In the UK, only the king's children, his grandchildren, and the wales of the Wales can have HRH ( charge ) kicks and Prince/Princess. However, on November 9, 1948, George VIII issued a patent leader to use the HRH Kyung -Chu and Princess Wires, and Charles used the HRH Kyung -nin and Prince since his birth, even though he was born.[6] When his mother Elizabeth II was crowned, he was automatically received as the eldest son. At the time, Charles was young, so he was not booked right to Wales .[7] It is used in Scotland .[8] It was a title granted to Walter FitzAllen by King David I in 1150 and was a hereditary position of the Stuart family . The name of the Stuart family also originates from Steward, which means royal family. After Robert II succeeded to the Scottish throne, it became a title awarded to the heir to the throne, and has continued through the Hanoverian and Saxe-Coburg-Gotha dynasties to this day.[E] 9.1 9.2 9.3 In 2021, his father, Philip , died, and inherited his title as the eldest son.[12] Since the phrases referring to the country and region where the title of King is applied are long, the phrases in front were inverted so that King came after them to clearly state that 'the entire phrase in front is the part where King is applied.' Also, in order to emphasize that the previously mentioned title of king of England is a separate thing from the title of king of other countries, the title of … and of … In the form of King, of is used twice. This means that it is divided into King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and King of His other Realms and Territories.[13] In addition to England, each of the 14 countries where Charles III reigns as king has a separate title.[14] Specifically, there was a prediction that 'George VIII' would be the king, like George VIII, who chose Middle Name George instead of First Name Albert. The evaluation of the kings with George's name is not bad overall, and it is the name that symbolizes the heyday of the British Empire . #[15] In these three countries, Diana's popularity was so great that tens of thousands of people flocked to the country when Charles and Diana visited for their honeymoon, so antipathy toward Charles was as great as in England at the time of Princess Diana's death.[16] Unlike the public opinion poll, the actual referendum recorded 45% in favor of converting to a republican system and 55% against.[17] In the beginning, a constitutional referendum is required to trust Charles III as the head of state. At this time, voting for the republic transition is expected to be held at the same time. Of course, Elizabeth II died, but in the most recent polls, 56%agreed to pursue a republican transition.[18] The current prime minister announced that he would proclaim Charles III as the head of state and officially promote the republic of the Republic within three years.[19] It has stated that it will maintain the current system until at least 2025.[20] Former Prime Minister Jutang Trudeau , who had been prime ministers for a long time, was close to the monarchy. The prime minister Mark Kani is also a member of the Liberal Party like Trudo, but his position on the military is not yet known.[21] Opinion polls show 50% support the monarchy. # [22] In Australia, since the 1980s, support for the republic has always been higher than for the monarchy, and the 1990s were the heyday, and rather, public opinion in 2022 has the highest support for the monarchy after the 1999 referendum.[23] Opinion polling company Yougov predicted, “If a referendum were held today on whether to convert to a republic, it would be rejected by a larger margin than the 1999 referendum.”[24] As of August 10, 2023, the position was transferred to his eldest son , William .[M] 25.1 25.2 25.3 25.4 25.5 25.6 25.7 25.8 Ex officio Title as Commander-in-Chief[33] From left, eldest son William, Prince of Wales , Charles III, and second son, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.[34] Prince George of Wales , Princess Charlotte of Wales , Prince Louis of Wales[35] Arch Prince of Sussex , Princess Lilibet of Sussex[36] Camilla, who was a baron's granddaughter, let alone a royal, was considered unfit to marry the future king, the Crown Prince, and when it was revealed that she was straddling Andrew Parker Bowles (later Camilla's first husband) while dating Prince Charles, she was immediately made a duke of the royal family. break up Eventually, Camilla marries Andrew.[37] Even the Prime Minister of Australia, who was creating public opinion about leaving the Commonwealth, hates Diana along with Charles when his plan is ruined by Diana.[38] The British monarch still has the power to dissolve parliament in name only. However, as the constitutional monarchy was established, the king gave only nominal approval after his death, and in practice, the prime minister took the lead in dissolving parliament. However, breaking that tradition, the king dissolved parliament. And originally, the King of England could not enter the House of Commons, but only the House of Nobles. The opening ceremony of the National Assembly, attended by the King, is also held in the House of Lords, the upper house of parliament. However, only when this parliament is dissolved can the king enter the House of Commons, the lower house of parliament.[39] Because of this, the film may seem to glorify Prince Charles, but in reality, it portrays Charles and the entire British royal family as a larger-than-life bean family . From the beginning of the play, Charles feels that the fact that he has become king is more important than the loss of his mother, and Catherine Middleton is obsessed with power and actively encourages her husband to rebel against her father. William is eventually persuaded by his wife and openly confronts his father about giving up the throne. In particular, Catherine in the story was controversial because she was shown to be a very reckless, cunning, and practical person who could be considered a completely different person with the same name as the real person. Harry , who came out in a less negative light, only chose to do things that were not helpful to the royal family, such as drinking heavily with his friends at nightclubs , dating a republican woman, and wanting to escape from the royal family as soon as possible.[40] Of course, it was ridiculed at the time, but now it is highly regarded for its long-term environmentally friendly behavior. The reason he was ridiculed as crazy was because George III used to talk to the trees in his garden when he was suffering from mental illness in his later years, so it wasn't an entirely absurd accusation.[41] Both his mother, Queen Elizabeth II , and his father, Prince Philip, are great-grandchildren of Queen Victoria .[42] Her great-grandmother , Queen Olga of Greece, was the granddaughter of Tsar Nicholas I.[43] Father Philip Mount Bathton was secondary in Germany and was also good at German. Helmut Call, the German award, in Germany, in Germany. (But at this time, I was in distress because of calling the imperial statue ( Reichskanzler ) .)[44] Mother Elizabeth II was also good at French.[45] Afterwards, Burnley club presented Charles with a VIP season ticket.
