2. succession
As for the succession law, there was Royal Edict 96/101 promulgated by the late King Qaboos bin Said in November 1996, but perhaps out of concern about the weaknesses of the nomination system , Haitham bin Tariq Al Said abolished it on January 11, 2021 after he ascended to the throne and established a new succession law that focuses on primogeniture like most other kingdoms. Accordingly, his eldest son , Tejazin bin Haitham Al-Sayed , was appointed crown prince.
