3. history
In 1744 , the religious scholar Muhammad ibn Abdul-Wahhab and the Emir of Nejd , Muhammad ibn Saud, formed an alliance and established the Emirate of Diriyah in Diriyah , marking the beginning of the Saud family as a dynasty. The Ottoman Empire did not pay much attention, and in fact, for about 40 years, Saud's territory was only a very small piece of land near Diriyah, but Saud sharpened his sword and trained soldiers, and from the 1780s, he rapidly conquered the Arabian Peninsula , even conquering Mecca and Medina, the holiest cities of Islam , in 1805 . The Ottoman Empire , sensing that the situation was serious, sent troops from the Egyptian provinces and declared war on the Wahhabis in 1811. The Saud army was defeated in 1818, rooting out its ability to resist, and the dream of establishing an independent nation came to nothing.
However, the House of Saud did not give up its dream of establishing an independent nation. In 1824, Turki ibn Abdullah again declared an independent nation and attempted to reconquer Arabia. Entering the 19th century, the Ottoman Empire began to weaken and was able to take advantage of this opportunity to control a fairly large territory, but it was defeated in a war with the Rashid family, a historical rival of the House of Saud, and collapsed in 1891. The control of Arabia was transferred to the Jabal Shammar Emirate of the Rashid family, which received Ottoman support . The House of Saud had no choice but to flee to Ottoman Iraq and Kuwait and plan for the future.
In 1902, Abdul Aziz of the House of Saud recaptured Riyadh province from the Emirate of Jabal Shammar and established the third independent state. Abdul Aziz expanded his territory by taking Al Hasa region and Katif from the Ottoman Empire in 1913, and the Emirate of Jabal Shammar, which had been at odds for a long time, was defeated in World War I.[2] They took advantage of the opportunity to attack and completely annexed it in 1921. Afterwards, Abdul Aziz, brimming with confidence, declared himself Sultan and changed the name of the country from the Emirate of Riyadh to the Sultanate of Nejd .

Meanwhile, Hussein of the Hashemite family received a promise of Arab independence from Britain through the McMahon Declaration during World War I and staged an uprising against the Ottoman Empire in 1916. After the war, Britain appointed Hussein's second son, Abdullah, as king of Jordan and his third son, Faisal, as king of Iraq . Hussein himself became king of the Kingdom of Hejaz, based in Mecca and Medina . However, when Britain's initial promise to establish a unified Arab kingdom was not kept, Hussein declared himself the caliph of all Muslims in 1924 , which caused much opposition, and was eventually replaced by Abdulaziz ibn Saud of the House of Saud in the same year . attacked Hussein. Hussein fled to Jordan , ruled by his second son, via Cyprus , and the throne of Hejaz was succeeded by his eldest son, Ali, but was conquered by Abdul Aziz within a year and exiled to Iraq . Abdul Aziz ruled the dual kingdom of Nejd-Hejaz, united the two countries in 1932, declared the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and became the first king.
4. corruption
It is a secret that everyone knows that the royal family is corrupt. As a country where the royal family controls everything in the country, the scale of corruption is beyond imagination .
" Saudi administrative corruption has resulted in a loss of $800 billion in revenue ."
"Saudi administrative corruption has resulted in $800 billion in lost revenue for the country."
This is a statement made on February 23, 2007 by Majed Garoub, Chairman of the Lawyers Association of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Since it was made while King Abdullah was carrying out an anti-corruption movement, one can imagine what it must have been like before the anti-corruption movement.
The fifth King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud made the following statement in 1985 when many people said that the prince was very spendthrift.
The fifth King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud made the following statement in 1985 when many people said that the prince was very spendthrift.
“There is a story about young Ajuji (who was 15 at the time) spending too much money. But Allah has brought us wealth, and we will gladly share it with our son. I just deposited $300 million into my bank account ."
There is a famous corruption known as the Al-Yamamah deal, which continues today through the sale of the Eurofighter . It is a business that is expected to receive a commission (i.e. bribe) of up to 45% of the price for a transaction that receives 600,000 barrels of oil every day. If 1 barrel is set at 50 to 110 dollars and the commission is set at 20% to 45%, the commission is 6 million to 29.7 million dollars per day, and if 1 dollar is 1,100 won, it is 6.6 billion to 32.7 billion won. Every day, up to 32.7 billion won in bribes , or approximately 10 trillion won per year, are received through this business alone. Moreover, even though the Saudi government began to tighten its finances, the royal family continued to spend extravagant activities, increasing public dissatisfaction. # If even half of this illegally accumulated money had been fully returned to the national treasury and properly reflected in the national budget, Saudi Arabia's economic ranking might have jumped several notches.
The teenage son of a Saudi Arabian diplomat was released with immunity despite committing theft. # This is actually Yakgwa. There are many more that are not well known. It is said that because of the high level of support among Saudis, there is an atmosphere in which victims feel threatened and make peace with it. The Saudi king said he was taking action because the video was filmed and criticism poured in from abroad.
However, if you act as a choreographer, you may be executed if you have a serious event that you can't really cover . # No matter how much the Saudi dynasty has been in recent years, the reformed Muhammad Bin Salman Alsaud becomes a prince and prime minister, showing the movement of change.

7. royalty
Even if they are distantly related to the royal family, with a relative of over 8 degrees,[4] Since they are called princes and princesses , there are many Saudi princes and princesses in prestigious universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. Even though it is not as high as in Western countries, it is also available in Korea because it allows students to enter prestigious universities . This is because Saudi Arabia itself encourages high-ranking people to study abroad . Of course, they are all rich because they have a lot of unowned assets.[5] Usually, children are sent to study abroad starting in middle and high school.
Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud also graduated from elementary, middle, and high school in the United States, and studied Arabic as if it were a foreign language with a private tutor . As a result, there is a saying that although he may sound Saudi , psychologically and culturally he is closer to Americans . Many of them enjoyed a life of luxury and extravagance, including gambling, luxury shopping, and other types of drinking, without regard for their place, using the huge assets they received from the state to their advantage, even owning private airplanes and villas overseas. This led to a lot of public discontent, and until regulations were eased in the late 2010s, there was even talk of them being hypocrites , saying that while emphasizing fundamentalist order to their own citizens, the royal family enjoyed the aforementioned privileges.
There are more than 7,000 people who officially hold the title of Prince . They receive living expenses support from the Saudi government and are provided with free business class airline tickets if they want to travel abroad.
In Trauma , drawn by Kwak Baek- su, there is a story about a woman who was looking for a rich man and ended up marrying the 6th wife of the king of a country like Saudi Arabia. Islam allows polygamy of up to four people , but in reality, Saudi kings do not practice it, as famous Italian journalist Oriana Fallazzi sarcastically said.[6] She says that she has 10 or at most 20 or more wives . She divorces her previous wife when there are more than four, but she uses her trick of still living together so she can have more than four, she says.

[1] He is also called the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. It is a title first used by Sultan Saladin of the Ayyubid Dynasty , and the two holy mosques refer to Al Haram Mosque located in Mecca and the Prophet's Mosque located in Medina .[2] The Emirate of Jabal Shammar participated in World War I as an ally .[3] Relationship with the current king.[4] This is because Arab nomads have a strong sense of belonging to a blood-related group. In any case, they have been active as a strong-willed group of the House of Saud even before the creation of Saudi Arabia, so even when Saudi Arabia is created and a king is created, they are all recognized as the same family.[5] If you search for 'Rich Arab' on YouTube, you can see a video of a Saudi prince throwing money at a bar waiter and a dancer, and the amount of banknotes held by secretaries next to and behind is enormous. The combined wealth of the princes' families and close relatives is in the trillions range.[6] Fallachi visited King Hussein I of Jordan and the King of Saudi Arabia at the time, and while King Hussein I was evaluated as a wonderful monarch, the Saudi king and royal family criticized him.
