Norway is a constitutional monarchy , with the King serving as the head of state. The current king is Harald V of the Glücksburg dynasty . As in other constitutional monarchies , the King has several powers, including the right to approve legislation.
Originally , the coronation ceremony was held in Bergen , and in the early days of the Oldenburg dynasty, when the King of Denmark was also the King of Norway, the coronation ceremony was held in Trondheim . However, from King Christian III onwards, the coronation ceremony was held in Denmark and the coronation ceremony was ended, and no coronation ceremony was held as the King of Norway. After Norway formed an alliance with Sweden , Charles XIV Johann , Karl However, since the last coronation of Haakon VII , the founder of the current Glügsburg dynasty, held at Trondheim Cathedral in 1906, there is currently no separate coronation ceremony.
