As the third and three sons of Oscar I , Carl XIV , a big brother , died in 1872.[1] The second brother, Gustav, inherited the throne because he died in his twenties without children.
Unlike his brother, he insisted on strengthening the kingship with conservative tendencies, but he did not achieve what he wanted.
1905 When Norway declared independence and Prince Karl was elected to the throne, he was naturally opposed to Norway's independence, but his wife, Queen Sofia, Friedrich Nansen, and others persuaded Oscar II, and the Swedish parliament also expressed opposition to Oscar II's opinion and approved Norway's independence. Crucially, since Prince Karl's wife's family was a member of the British royal family, Britain supported Norway for Atlantic hegemony and eventually gave the throne to Denmark. It was given to Prince Charles, the second son of Frederick VIII . It is said that he was sad when he gave up the throne of Norway.
The following year, his great-grandson, Hereditary Prince Gustav Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten, was born, making him a great-grandfather.
Afterwards, he passed away in 1907.[2] , the Swedish throne was inherited by 49-year-old Crown Prince Gustav .

4. digression
- When I was young, it was slim. I ate it in my last years.
- He is believed to have had at least five illegitimate children, but unlike his father, none have been officially recognized.
- When the Nobel Prize was established after Alfred Nobel's death, he strongly opposed it, saying that Sweden's national wealth would be leaked to the outside world.
[1] They had a son, Karl Oscar, and a daughter , Robisa. However, Karl Oskar died at a young age and his daughter Robisa married off to Denmark. Robisa's second son is Haakon VII , and his second son-in-law is none other than Prince Karl, the third son of Oscar II, and Prince Karl's second son-in-law is Haakon VII's only son, Olaf V.[2] Coincidentally, his in-law, Grand Duke Frederick I of the Grand Duchy of Baden, also died in the same year . Gustav VI Adolf saw both his paternal and maternal grandfather pass away in the same year.[3] Gustav VI Adolf , Prince Wilhelm, Duke of Södermanland, etc.[4] Paulke Vernadote, etc.[5] Second daughter of King Frederick VIII of Denmark and Princess Lovisa of Sweden . She becomes Prince Karl's half-niece (she is a paternal cousin to Ingeborg's mother, Lovisa).[6] Princess Axel of Denmark , Margareta, Crown Princess Merta of Norway , Queen Astrid of Belgium , etc.[7] Even though he was a member of the royal family, he did not just use painting as a side job or hobby, but lived as a full-time artist. He was homosexual and remained single his entire life.[8] Swedish kings have been crowned in Stockholm Cathedral (Storkyrkan) or Uppsala Cathedral (Uppsala domkyrka) for generations, and Oscar II was crowned in Stockholm Cathedral.
