Birth and Death: 1388 - 1412 March 1st
Albrecht III, Duke of Mecklenburg and King of Sweden .
The son of Albrecht II, Duke of Mecklenburg (1318-1379) and Eufemia Eriksdotter (1317-1370) of Sweden, King Magnus IV of Sweden was his maternal uncle .
He was established as the King of Sweden taking advantage of Magnus IV's misfortune, but some Swedish nobles rebelled against him, and he became his cousin, the King of Norway . He sought help from Margrethe Valdemarsdatir of Denmark , a neighboring country married to Haakon VI, and was eventually expelled from the Swedish throne and returned to Mecklenburg.
Margrethe created the Kalmar Union by bringing her sister Ingebor's grandson , Eric of Pommern , to the throne in Kalmar as King of Denmark , Norway and Sweden .
