The current head of state of the United Arab Emirates is Muhammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan .

However, although he is only president in name , he is effectively the king because the Amir of Abu Dhabi , ruled by the Al Nahyan dynasty, also holds the office of president.[2] Like the President, the Vice-President and Prime Minister are held concurrently by the Emir of Dubai .
