The population is about 400,000, or almost 800,000 when including the surrounding satellite city areas. It is a very modern and developed city. Tirana was not originally the center of the Albanian region. It was founded by Suleyman Barzini in 1614, and facilities such as mosques , traditional markets , and bathhouses were built at this time, and it developed thereafter.
After Albania gained independence, its first capital was the port city of Durrës , but in 1920, at a congress held in Lushnia, Tirana was decided as the new capital. In 1928, when Ahmet Zogu, then president and dictator, ascended the throne as Zogu I and established the Kingdom of Albania, Tirana experienced changes in terms of architecture. Because of the low national power at the time, King Jogu I had a close relationship with Mussolini of the Kingdom of Italy, and accordingly, Italian-style buildings were built in the center of Tirana.
Since Enberh Hoja communicated Albania in 1944, Tirana was filled with bleak concrete buildings, and in 1991, Tirana was literally a gray city. At the time, tiran and pictures were rarely cars[2] There are no many people who have many people who have a lot of people, and there are no high -rise buildings[3][4] The background feels a frightening (...) feeling.[90's]
After the indiscriminate development, Eddie Rama , a politician from a painter in 2000, was elected to the market in 2000, and he improved the city's aesthetics by taking a policy of adding Tirana's concrete buildings with colorful paints. He has gained national awareness through this achievement, and he has been on the rise and has been serving as prime minister of Albania in 2013.
The city is located in a basin-like area and has a Mediterranean climate, with hot and dry summers and cold winters with little snow and heavy rain. Annual precipitation is 1,265 mm, which is quite a lot in the Mediterranean region. The amount of sunlight is extremely low in the winter when the days are short and there is a lot of rain, but the sun shines a lot in the summer. To the east of Tirana is Mount Daiti, which is over 1,600m above sea level. This mountain is designated as a national park and a large cable car is also installed.
As a side note, the languages that Tirana citizens study the most are English and Italian .

[1] positive and negative, respectively.[2] This is because the Albanian government has banned individual car ownership by 1990.[3] The first 50m high building in Albania was a 15 -story tirana International Hotel, which was built in 1979, and there was no more than 50m buildings in Tirana until 2000. Except for this building as a bonus, there were no buildings in Albania at that time.[4] For reference, the first 100m building in Tirana is the Tirana Marriott Hotel (112m, 25 floors) built in 2019, and the current tirana's highest building is downtown building (150m, 40 floors) built in 2024. In addition, there are three more buildings in the current tirana.[90's] 1 (1991 ~ 1993) 2 (1992) 3 (1993)[6] It is said to be closed from 2024 to 2028 for remodeling.
