3.1. Childhood

3.2. marriage
In 1959, at the age of 13, Princess Annemarie fell in love with Crown Prince Constantine of Greece, who was on a state visit to Denmark with his parents. Crown Prince Constantine was the great-grandson of Queen Victoria and King Christian IX and was the 8th cousin to Princess Annemarie. Afterwards, in the summer of 1962, Crown Prince Konstantinos, who secretly proposed to Princess Annemarie in Norway , declared to his parents, Pavlos and Queen Frederiki, that he would marry her.[1] It is said that Annemarie's father, Frederick IX , asked Princess Annemarie to wait for this marriage without informing the public until she was 18 years old and completed her studies.[2] In 1962, Crown Prince Constantine continued his love affair with Princess Annemarie, who became the flower girl at the wedding of her older sister , Princess Sofia of Greece and Denmark , and King Juan Carlos I.[3]

In January 1963, the Danish royal family announced the couple's engagement. The wedding was originally scheduled for January 1965, but was postponed in 1964. On March 6, King Pavlos of Greece died and Constantine II ascended the throne, so the schedule was postponed. 3.3. Queen

3.4. exile
However, in April 1967, Colonel Georges Papadopoulos staged a coup and established a military regime in Greece . Accordingly, Constantine II attempted a counter coup in December of that year, but failed, and Italy had to go into exile in Rome . In the aftermath, Anna Maria suffered a miscarriage . While living in exile in Rome, she gave birth to Prince Nicholas in 1969, and moved to London after the abolition of the monarchy in 1973. After suffering a miscarriage in 1980, she gave birth to Princess Theodora in 1983 and Prince Philip in 1986, leaving her with a total of three sons and two daughters.
