In the 14th National Assembly election in 1992, he ran for the Gapyeong-gun and Yangpyeong-gun constituencies in Gyeonggi-do as a candidate for the Democratic Liberal Party and was elected, beating his hometown junior and former Army lieutenant general. Ahead of the 14th presidential election at the end of that year, unlike Park Cheol-eon, he remained in the Democratic Liberal Party. In 1996, ahead of the 15th National Assembly election, he announced that he would not run.
On April 9, 2019, he was found dead after jumping into the Han River. # Afterwards, his remains were buried at Bundang Sky Castle. #
