Politicians in Korea. Born in Kimhwa -gun, Gangwon -do, he served as the 18th Governor of Gyeonggi -do and the 20th Seoul Mayor. Religion is Catholic.

Gangwon-do Kim Hwa-gun Born in Gimhwa-eup , Gyeonggi High School in Seoul (47th)[2] , Graduated from Korea University College of Law .
In 1960, he passed the 12th Higher Examination for Public Administration and devoted himself to the police force .
He served as the Governor of Gyeonggi- do from 1980 to 1983 and the Mayor of Seoul from 1983 to 1987 . Seoul Mayor's tenure Subway 2 3 Line 4 was completed, comprehensive development of the Han River was promoted, Garak-dong Agricultural and Marine Products Market opened, and a new town in Mok-dong was built. He established and promoted plans for the restoration of Gyeonghuigung Palace, Boramae Park , Jongmyo Park, and Seokchon Lake Park.
It is said that when he served as mayor of Seoul, he worked from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. At the time he was appointed mayor of Seoul, the city of Seoul was on the verge of bankruptcy as subway debt snowballed, but Yeom Bo-hyun was resourceful and the financial crisis was overcome. Afterwards, a budget of 960 billion won was invested to build the Olympic Road, of which 170 billion won was saved by selling sand from the Han River.

The 1988 Seoul Olympics were actually prepared by Yeom Bo-hyun. Not only the 1986 Seoul Asian Games , but also the success of the 1988 Seoul Olympics, many say that Yeom Bo-hyun was the number one contributor.
During his tenure as mayor of Seoul, he received absolute trust from Chun Doo-hwan , who was president at the time, and did not have a good relationship with Roh Tae- woo, who was the then Minister of Home Affairs (currently the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs ), chairman of the Olympic Organizing Committee, and representative member of the Democratic Justice Party .
Immediately after Roh Tae-woo was elected in December 1987, he resigned as mayor of Seoul, but a few months later, in April 1988, he was arrested on charges of receiving bribes while he was mayor of Seoul. He served three years and six months in prison and was released through a special pardon on Liberation Day in 1990.
After joining the Liberal Democratic Alliance in 1996, Gangwon-do He ran as a National Assembly candidate in Cheorwon-gun, Hwacheon-gun, and Yanggu-gun constituencies, but the New Korea Party He was defeated by candidate Lee Yong-sam .
He died at 4 am on July 16, 2021.

- While serving as mayor of Seoul, Yang Jeong High School carried out a project to relocate the school from Malli-dong to Mok-dong. This is the result of a combination of the school's concerns over the lowering of the admission cutoff line after the implementation of the high school standardization policy and the government's policy of moving high schools located in the old city center of Seoul to the south of the Han River . The principal of Yangjeong High School at the time was Eom Gyu-baek, a fellow student of the 47th class of Gyeonggi High School.[3]
