It was invented in the 16th century by a tribal confederation called Iflissen Lebhar among the Berber Kabyle . However, it took on its current appearance in the 18th century. The name of the sword comes from Iflissen, one of the places where many Kabils live. Iron was imported from Europe to port cities such as Bejaia , Algiers , Tunis , and Tripoli , or iron was mined from a mine in a small town called Timizart in northern Algeria.
The size is about 1m and varies depending on the type, but most are close to a straight line even if slightly curved. The handle is made of metal and has no guard (under the blade of the sword). Of course, there is also a version with small blades.
