It is the largest music award organized by the Royal Academy of Music of Sweden .

It was created in 1989 by Stig Anderson (Stig Anderson 1931.01.25-1997.09.09.12). Stiggenerson is the founder of Paula, a record producer of the Swedish pop group ' Abba ', and was founded by the 'Music Awards Foundation' with his donation at the Swedish Royal Conservatory. The Foundation's Committee wins the Paula Music Award winner every year, and the winners receive a 1,000,000 krona (about 140 million won for Hanwha). This award, which is selected and awarded to musicians from all over the world, is given to individuals, organizations, and institutions that have achieved excellent results in the music field, regardless of the genre.

Like the Nobel Prize , it is called the Nobel Prize of Music due to the symbolism and authority of being awarded directly by the King of Sweden at the Stockholm Concert Hall . Almost every year, the award is given to two or one popular music musician and one classical music musician.
