From Karmann's point of view, he could not afford to lose his biggest source of income, so the contract between Volvo and Karmann fell through due to this incident.

Later, Volvo contacted other German companies , NSU and Hanomag, but this plan was abandoned as the quality of these companies did not meet Volvo's standards.

After many twists and turns, Volvo signed a contract with British Jensen Motors in 1960 and decided to produce the P1800 at Jensen's factory in West Bromwich, England . Vehicles were produced here from 1961 to 1962, and in 1963, the production line was moved to Volvo's factories in Gothenburg and Torslanda, Sweden, and continued to be produced in Sweden until it was discontinued in 1973.
