1955 From September 1 to 1995 It is an administrative district of Gyeongsangnam -do , which was until January 1 . The name of the name is Chung Mu -gong , the poem of Yi Sun -shin , and originated from the area where Yi Sun -shin led the Chosun Navy during the Imjin War .
It corresponds to the downtown (dong) area of Tongyeong City .

- 1955 September 1st The area of Tongyeong-eup, Tongyeong-gun was promoted to Chungmu-si and separated from Tongyeong-gun.
- 1985 On December 18, Bukshin-dong was divided into Bukshin-dong and Mujeon-dong, and Inpyeong 1-dong and Inpyeong 2-dong were combined into Inpyeong-dong.
- 1995 On January 1 , Chungmu-si and Tongyeong-gun were abolished and Tongyeong-si , an urban-rural integration city , was established.

- Chungmu Gimbap came from Chungmu City. Chungmu Gimbap itself became a proper noun, and the name was maintained even after the city name was changed.
- Singer Lee So-ra , comedian Heo Kyung-hwan , actors Go Gyu-pil and Jeong Yun-hee , and businessman Cho Man-ho, chairman of the board of directors of Musinsa, are from here.
