It is the capital and second city of Senegal 's Saint-Louis Department .

2. geography

Saint-Louis is located on the coast of northwestern Senegal . It borders the Atlantic Ocean and is very close to Mauritania to the north. It is located close to Mauritania, so there is a road connecting it to Mauritania. Additionally, because it borders Mauritania, it is a border city and is connected through the Senegal River. The climate belongs to the hot steppe climate .

3. history

Saint Lui was the place where the Wallov settled. It was a settlement of the Wallov, but in 1638 , the French began to occupy. It was then the center of the French West Africa . From 1895 to 1902, he became the center of French West Africa and was transferred to Dakar in 1902 . After Senegal became independent in France , it became a city of Senegal.
