1. outline

It refers to a game that starts from the stadium and runs outdoors such as fields or hills.

2. type

2.1. athletics cross country

It is literally an event that runs outdoors, such as fields and hills. In terms of getting out of the field, it is similar to a marathon, but crucially, a marathon is run along the road, whereas cross country is an event that runs in a field. It is not an official Olympic event, but it is an event recognized by the International Association of Athletics Federations , and world competitions are also being held.

Although it is not an official Olympic track and field event, cross-country racing is held in the Olympics, as the track and field of the modern pentathlon falls under cross-country. Currently, this cross-country and shooting are combined to form something similar to the biathlon of the Winter Olympics .

2.2. cross country skiing

It is a type of Nordic skiing in which skiers ski down snow-covered fields and hills.

2.3. MTB cross country

As one of the MTB races and types, it refers to races and MTBs running on light mountain terrain or gravel roads. See MTB section for details .

2.4. paraglider cross country

Paraglider's cross -country means leaving away from the takeoff. Cross -country is also used as 'XC'. Paraglider's XC is an official sport.

XC scores using GPS, and the score is 1000 points that day, but the score of the first place can be lowered depending on the person who entered the goal.
GPS is for transcript verification, but it can also be verified with an app like XCTRAX on your smartphone.

In 2020, GPS proof is simplified.

As for XC equipment, the OPERA of DAVINCIGLIDERS is representative. Representative XC players include Davinci Gliders' Lim Mun-seop, Kim Hyung-joo, Lee Ji-hoon, Jin Glider Hachi Gyeong, Oh Seok-cheol, Jeong Se-yong, and Ahn Yong-tae.

3. digression

  • In New Zealand , there is a culture of running cross-country once a year regardless of elementary, middle, or high school. It varies depending on the school and year, but it is usually held at the end of the third semester. Additionally, in New Zealand schools, students are divided into “teams” based on address or classroom, and on cross-country day, there is a lot of nervousness between teams. It varies depending on the situation, school, and even grade, but is usually held on the school playground or in a nearby park.[1]
[1] New Zealand middle schools and high schools often share playgrounds, and when middle school students practice or on cross country day, high school students sit on the grass and cheer. But it can be a little annoying because you “sit down” and cheer.
