At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics , he won the gold medal in the men's individual foil, becoming the second gold medal in Hong Kong's history, the first gold medalist since Hong Kong's return , and the first male gold medalist. Three years later, at the 2024 Paris Olympics , he won the gold medal by defeating Italy's Filippo Machi by one point, succeeding in winning two consecutive titles. However, there was some controversy over the final score judgment, which led to a war of nerves between Italian and Hong Kong netizens.
