Riga FC was formed in 2014 as a result of the merger of two Riga -related teams, FC Caramba Riga and Dinamo Riga. In the 2014 season, FC Karamba had already won the second division championship, but the team changed its name to Riga FC and won the second division championship again in the following season, 2015, and began participating in the 2016 season of Virsliga . After placing 5th in the 2016 season and 3rd in the 2017 season, they won the Virs League for three consecutive seasons in 2018, 2019, and 2020.
