It is the center of the county where Eupchi has been located since ancient times. Eup is located in Dongmuri, and the county office is also in Dongmuri.
If Samho-eup is the Mokpo living area, Yeongam-eup is the Gwangju and Naju living area. In the past, National Highway No. 13 passed north and south of the town , providing access to Gwangju and Naju . It is actually easier to advance into Gwangju . It takes less than 30 minutes from Yeongam-eup to downtown Naju on National Highway 13 , and it takes less than an hour to get to Gwangju .[3] However, transportation to Samho-eup and Mokpo-si is not that inconvenient because bus number 101 runs through Dokcheon Terminal to Mokpo Bus Terminal every 20 to 30 minutes . There are 47 intercity buses to Gwangju every day.[4]
Because Wolchulsan Mountain is just to the south , many hikers visit. The numerical altitude above sea level is also relatively high.[5] Because you have to start climbing almost at sea level.[6] It feels much higher, and as it is a rocky mountain with many cliffs, the risk of falling rocks is high, making climbing difficult.[7]
Yeongam Passenger Car Terminal , Yeongam County Office , Yeongam Police Station , Jeonnam Gwangju Integrated Special City Yeongam Education Support Office , Yeongam 119 Safety Center , Yeongam County Public Health Center, Yeongam Post Office, Yeongam Sports Complex[8] , Yeongam Hyanggyo , Yeongam Library, and Wolchulsan Gichan Land . The schools include Yeongam Elementary School , Yeongam Middle School , Yeongam Girls' Middle School , Yeongam High School , and Yeongam Girls' High School . Because of the active mountain to the east of the town, Handae-ri has only a sidewalk leading to other villages in Yeongam-eup, so it is practically a border area and is located in the Tamjin River basin, not the Yeongsan River basin .
Gangjin-gun via National Highway 13 and Pulchi Tunnel If you cross Seongjeon-myeon and Donbatjae on local road 835, you will come into contact with Omcheon-myeon, Gangjin -gun .

2.7. From beginning to end
Si Jong-myeon (Yeongam) |
The seat of the myeon is Naedong-ri, and there are 14 jurisdictional jurisdictions.[28] Population: 3,169 .[A]
Local road No. 801 and local road No. 821 diverge at the location of myeon . If you take local road No. 801, you will head to Gongsan-myeon, Naju- si , and if you take local road No. 821, you will head to Bannam-myeon, Naju-si. As an aside, the Chinese character really means 'beginning and end' (...). Of course, it does not originate from this word, but it was named after these names when the Buk-i -si - myeon of Yeongam, Jongnam-myeon of Naju, and Myeongsan-myeon, the border area of Jindo, were combined during the merger and abolition of Bugun -myeon. There was Mahan Geosu-guk in this very Sijong-myeon, and during the time of King Geunchogo, it was leading the Chimmidarye together with the forces of Shinwol-ri, Bukil-myeon, Haenam . However, since the time of King Geunchogo, Baekje Kingdom's sovereignty over Mahan had been recognized. However, as Baekje supported the forces of Bannam-myeon, Naju, right across the street, the Yeongam area gradually declined. In fact, since it was a living area with Naju in ancient times, it is not that strange that the area of Bannam-myeon, Naju, was a branch power of the area of Sijong-myeon, Yeongam.
For that reason , there is a push to change the name to Mahan-myeon in 2023 , but Naju City is protesting that the name Mahan should not be monopolized. ※

2.8. Sinbuk-myeon
Sinbuk-myeon (Yeongam) |
The county seat is Wolpyeong-ri, and there are 13 jurisdictional jurisdictions.[30] Population: 3,324 .[A]
According to Gwangyeo -do, the guidance of the late Joseon Dynasty, in the Joseon Dynasty, it was called the north end of Yeongam, called North Yijong -myeon, and in 1914 During the Gun -myeon Gun -myeon, he incorporates a part of Naju -gun (now Naju -si), non -sound, and Sejunam -myeon.
The schools include Shinbuk Elementary School , Shinbuk Middle School , and Jeonnam Energy High School .
Wolpyeong-ri, the center , is located midway between Naju (original city center) and Yeongam-eup . There is a Shinbuk Terminal where you can take intercity buses to Gwangju , Naju , Haenam , and Gangjin , and intra-gun buses also run to Naju or Yeongam, so if you use the bus, you can get to Naju or Yeongam in one go without transferring. There is Shinbuk 119 Safety Center and Jeonnam Textile Yeongam Factory. It is in contact with Semyeon , Naju-si via National Highway 13 . This place is easy to access in the direction of Gwangju and Naju Yeongsanpo , so the living area is not at all the Mokpo area but the Gwangju area .
Local road No. 820 passes through the Yanggye-ri and Hakdong-ri areas, and this road is the shortest route connecting downtown Naju and Bannam-myeon, Naju -si. In other words, from Naju City's perspective, traveling to and from the same Naju City area means stepping on Yeongam-gun land. Also, because of this location, the Yanggye-ri and Hakdong-ri areas are closer to the downtown Naju living area, and the eastern part of Galgok-ri and the northern part of Geumsuri, commonly called Gungye together with Songje-ri, Semyeon-myeon, Naju-si, are also closer to the downtown Naju living area.

2.9. Haksan-myeon
Haksan-myeon (Yeongam) |
It is an area just before crossing from Mokpo to Gangjin . The location of the myeon is Dokcheon-ri , and since the population exceeds 1,000 people, which is large for a township, it is more famous by the name Dokcheon. There are 10 jurisdictional legal principles.[32] Population: 2,773 .[A]
In the past, this area was called Gon-i-myeon (昆二始面). Like Gon-il-myeon, it originated from Gonmi-hyeon during the Baekje period and also has Gon-i-jong-myeon. Gonijong-myeon is the current Seoho-myeon. In 1932, it was renamed to Haksan-myeon, taking a letter from each of Hakgye -ri (鶴溪里) and Yongsan- ri (龍山里) within the jurisdiction. And as you can see from the map in front, the shape is misshapen.
In the past, there were mud flats here and in Miam-myeon, so three-legged octopus was famous, but the mud flats disappeared due to the construction of a seawall, so they cannot be caught now. Of course, there are still many octopus stores. The shape of the side is long from east to west, so the area from near the southern end of Muyeong Bridge to near Bamjae Tunnel belongs to Haksan-myeon. From this shape, it can be inferred that there used to be a sea all the way to Dokcheon. Additionally, the area around Dokcheon, the location of myeon, is tightly sandwiched between Seoho-myeon and Miam-myeon. If you cross Bamjae via National Highway 2, you will reach Gangjin-gun. It is adjacent to Seongjeon-myeon .
Like Samho-eup , the living area is Mokpo , and it takes less than 30 minutes from Haksan-myeon to downtown Mokpo on National Highway 2 . There are intercity buses , seat buses, and rural buses going from Dokcheon Terminal to Mokpo . It is the terminus of Mokpo Bus No. 500 (seat bus) and is also a stopover for rural buses between Mokpo and Yeongam. Both routes run every 20 to 30 minutes, making public transportation to Yeongam-eup and Mokpo very convenient. Additionally, there are intercity buses to Busan , Suncheon , and Haenam , making it easy to travel to other areas. On the other hand, there is no bus from here to Gwangju , so you have to take a rural bus to Yeongam-eup and then take an intercity bus from Yeongam Passenger Car Terminal . However, the administrative district of Dokcheon Terminal is Chaeji-ri, Miam-myeon.
Hakak-ri Stone Tomb Group, Dong-A Health University , Haksan 119 Regional University , Namhae Expressway There is Seoyeongam Interchange .[34] Yeongam Station also opened in 2025 , but the problem is that it is located in Eungok-ri, which is not close to Samho and Dokcheon. The schools are Dokcheon Elementary School , Haksan Elementary School , Yeongam Nangju Middle School , and Yeongam Nangju High School , and Dong-A Health University is right next to Nangang High School .
